Adopting a Dog

Appointments must be made in advance to visit the sanctuary or to meet a dog.

How to Adopt

Our adoption process was developed to ensure, as best we can, that your new dog will be the perfect match for you and you will be the perfect match for your new dog.

• Applicant must be 21 years of age or older.
• Applicant must complete a Briarfield Farm Sanctuary adoption application and return it to BFS by fax or email.
• We will review your application and contact you to talk about the dog you'd like to adopt, and tell you more about any of his or her special needs.
• An appointment will be scheduled for you to meet the dog and have an in-person interview.
• An in home visit will be scheduled.
• A second appointment will be scheduled to allow other family members and/or other dogs to meet the dog you’d like to adopt
• Applicant must complete a BFS adoption contract to finalize adoption.
• A follow up home visit or phone call will be made approximately a week after the adoption.

*A follow up home visit will be scheduled on a case by case basis depending on the needs of the individual dog.

 

Pets For Patriots

Briarfield Farm Sanctuary is proud to be a member of the "Pets for Patriots" nationwide program. This unique adoption program matches homeless shelter pets with veterans. We are determined to make the joys of adult pet ownership achievable and affordable for the men and women of the U.S. military.

Adoption Fees

Briarfield Farm Sanctuary asks for an adoption fee of $150. This fee helps with the medical treatment of each dog including, but not limited to, spay/neuter, heart worm preventative, flea preventative, micro-chipping, and treatment of any illness.
